About This Paper

What is Financial Reporting?

Financial Reporting is one of the most technically demanding papers in the ICAG qualification. Candidates must apply International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to complex accounting scenarios — going far beyond the basic financial statements prepared at Level 1. The paper covers group accounts, financial instruments, lease accounting, revenue recognition, and the preparation of complex statements for specialist entities. Critical evaluation of accounting policies and the ability to interpret published financial statements are also examined.

How to Pass Financial Reporting

Always identify the relevant IFRS standard at the start of your answer. Examiners reward candidates who correctly name the standard, state the principle, and then apply it — don't just 'do the maths' without the theory.
